Since 1990 the Front St. family of companies has been a leader in mental health support services in Santa Cruz and Monterey County. We are proud to be an integral part of a system that provides housing and mental health services for over 300 consumers. This position will be located at one of our adult residential care facility in Santa Cruz or Monterey County. Our facilities specialize in providing services to adults with mental health disabilities while promoting healthy living and wellness in a spectacular setting. This is a full-time position with medical, dental, vision and 401k benefits offerings. Rate is commensurate with experience. Part-time and On-call opportunities are also available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.

Prepare and serve three nutritious meals and three snacks per day.
Follow a weekly menu, making adjustments as needed.
Follow food service sanitation practices and personal hygiene.
Ensure kitchen equipment cleanliness, up-keep and regular maintenance.
Implement principles of good nutrition, food preparation, food storage, food service and menu planning as defined by Title 22, ServSafe and other applicable regulations.
Provide physician prescribed diets as needed.
Provide tray service in case of temporary need for a resident.
Follow and perform the Cook Duties Checklist.
Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures and uses appropriate safeguards in all on-the-job activities.
In a culturally competent manner, will provide services to all residents without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, sex, religion, and handicap or payment status.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting and Documentation

Mandated to follow mandated reporting laws including reporting any suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders directly to the appropriate agencies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, skill, or ability required to perform the job

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED; or experience may be required.

Knowledge

Use and maintenance of adaptive devices for residents’ self-help in eating.
Principles of nutrition, menu planning, ServSafe; food preparation, service and storage.
When to seek professional assistance for a resident.
Knowledge and conformity to all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, state and local laws, rules and regulations including Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, Title 22.

Language Skills

Read, speak, write and understand English well enough to follow regulations, requirements and communications for resident care and prepare and follow menus;
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions

Mathematical Skills

Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages associated with completing the requirements of the position.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to carry written, oral, or diagramed instructions.
Competent in dealing with problems involving several variables in different situations.

Other Skills and Abilities

Adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
Maintain cooperative and professional working relationships.

Additional Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
If required to drive, must be 21 and accepted by the Company’s vehicle insurance.
Cleared by the Department of Justice and FBI prior to commencing work.
TB clearance within the last 6 months and yearly thereafter. Pass a health screening.
May be required to serve on company committees.
Complete all annual training requirements as mandated by Community Care Licensing Division, Title 22 and Front St. policy.
Attend mandated meetings and trainings; fulfill all coursework and training hours required.
Work in a safe and acceptable manner, following established safety procedures.

Physical Demands: Must be met to successfully perform the essential job functions.

Regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, stand for extended periods of time.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, lift up to 25 pounds, cook and clean, and occasionally required to kneel, crouch or crawl.
Be physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks per Title 22 and other applicable regulation.
