Full-Time Inpatient Hospice Cook
Job Summary:
Responsible for the preparation and distribution of all meals for patients in the Inpatient Facility, prepares meals for the Soda Shoppe, and provides food as needed for guests of the facility. Assists supervisor with food, and supply orders to maintain proper stock levels for facility use.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED preferred.
- Completion of Smith County Food Handlers course
- Clear record of conduct for any offense that would bar employment on criminal history, nurse aide registry, and employee misconduct registry
- Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English
- Demonstrate ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Prefer experience in food services/cook in an institutional setting
- Valid Driver’s License or State Identification provided upon hire
- Demonstrate ability to relate effectively with health care professionals, the community, patients/families, and members of the hospice interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks to complete the essential job functions in a timely efficient manner
- Demonstrate ability to properly order, store and utilize food stuffs and supplies to satisfy facility needs and control cost.
- Employee must be FIT tested for an N95 mask
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, twist, and crouch.
- Frequently required to walk pushing tray cart through the facility
- Regularly required to use hands to handle and feel
- Auditory acuity: must be able to hear phone conversations and normal voice tones when facing the individual
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to focus.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress
- Posses good general mental health

Interactions with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, visitors, co-workers, etc. must be in a manner that is courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional.
