We're searching for a Cook/Kitchen Assistant to serve with our Operation Heal our Patriots project in Port Alsworth, Alaska. Operation Heal Our Patriots gives wounded veterans and their spouses the opportunity for spiritual refreshment, physical renewal, and marriage enrichment. Couples participate in Biblically-based seminars that help strengthen their relationships with God and others and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation with outdoor activities at our Alaskan wilderness lodge.

A day in the life of a Cook/Kitchen Assistant:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
• Performs daily preparation of meals for staff, volunteers, and occasionally guests at the Samaritan Lodge Alaska “Bunker” dining hall in Port Alsworth, Alaska.
• Prepare and serve food according to approved menus and standardized recipes while keeping waste to a minimum
• Able to competently complete any/all tasks in the kitchen

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous food preparation and experience cooking and serving meals to groups of 20-40 people is required.
• Working knowledge of dietary allergies and is able to confidently discuss with guests, as needed
• Willingness to be adaptable and patient with changing demands.
• Demonstrated ability to serve humbly and kindly interact with guests/staff.

Job Location: Port Alsworth, Alaska

Type: Temporary – Full time – 5 months (May-September)

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)
