POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting and advising the organization with understanding requirements and implementation of programs to maintain regulatory compliance. The position also must identify trends in EHS performance and create interventions to improve. This position may possess specific technical expertise to help provide guidance to the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assess EHS exposures and risks relevant to expertise
  • Coordinate and participate in emergency response
  • Coordinate with contractors
  • Develop strategies to address issues
  • Site visits in assigned territory, including specialized training, safety meetings, leading EHS audits, and general EHS support of site
  • Develop and implement procedures
  • Conduct risk assessment and identify controls
  • Analyze EHS data and propose solutions
  • Work with site and EHS managers to identify hazards related to EHS and come up with strategies to address risk and ensure compliance
  • Work with vendors that provide EHS services such as monitoring and/or sampling of the work environment to identify exposure issues.
  • Educate Operational leadership on regulatory compliance issues and EHS risks within the operation while providing guidance on suitable means for addressing the risk.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or three to seven years prior experience in Environmental Health & Safety. Bachelor’s Degree in a science related field is preferred.

Preferred specialty training – Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of Industry best practices and/or standards

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
