This position will perform the necessary media relations tasks, such as media list building, media monitoring, media outreach and drafting news releases, which are essential to the success of the Company’s media and corporate communications initiatives. This position will also perform any internal communications duties to support the company’s strategy, culture, and associate engagement, which includes writing and posting for the company’s core internal communication channels.

What you will be doing:
  • Drafting of news releases under the direction of VP Corporate Communications
  • Proactive outreach on specific AMC publicity initiatives to generate news coverage of Company priorities
  • Daily monitoring of AMC’s media coverage and creating regular media coverage reports to share internally
  • Support the VP of Corporate Communications as needed, including responsibility for AMC’s media hotline, and coordinating media visits to AMC locations
  • Write content for the company’s core internal communication channels that supports company strategy, brings to life the company culture, and supports associate engagement
  • Write/edit stories as needed to support company initiatives to internal audiences
  • Serve an expert on AMC’s internal communication platforms, including editing and posting stories, and general management and maintenance
  • Maintain a hyper-local media list database that allows AMC to target its publicity efforts for maximum results
What we need from you:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in public relations, journalism, or communications; or commensurate experience
  • 1+ year(s) in public relations, journalism, or corporate/agency communications
  • Experience creating media contact lists and monitoring news coverage
  • Experience writing news releases and/or news stories
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional suite and applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Experience with database searches and report compiling
  • Knowledge of established and emerging news media channels and how best to interact with each
  • Knowledge of social media and search functions
  • Strong attention to detail, including copy-editing skills
  • Ability to draft engaging stories based on limited information
  • Ability to provide analysis of data reports
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to be available on occasion after hours and on weekends as the job requires
What we also value (preferred):
  • Knowledge of media monitoring tools such as Cision
  • Knowledge of Share point
  • Knowledge of the film industry and familiarity with AMC Theatres
  • A demonstrated ability to interact with new media professionally and responsibly
  • Copy-editing experience
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to maximize media contact lists
