Corporate Controller

Job Summary:

The Corporate Controller is a replacement hire to strengthen the overall accounting organization and transform into a global, corporate role.

This encompasses external reporting and all traditional accounting functions including fixed assets, AP/AR processing and payroll/benefits accounting as well as technical accounting research. The role is also intended to have responsibility for the existing international ledgers in Hong Kong, Paraguay, Mexico, Peru, and South Africa.

The Company is changing from US GAAP to IFRS and intends to follow rigorous, SEC style reporting guidelines (akin to a Fortune 500 entity) despite being a wholly owned subsidiary of the public Japanese conglomerate Marubeni. This role is also the lead to ensure compliance with JSOX requirements (similar to Sarbanes Oxley).

Corporate Controller Responsibilities:

  • Pays vendors by verifying payment terms, approval signatures, and valid general ledger account codes. Ensure the accuracy of vendor invoices in relation to price, quantity, and terms
  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, reporting and control functions
  • Manage the preparation of and review of financial statements and management reports
  • Provide leadership required to strengthen and grow the team and to develop, enhance, and implement accounting policies and procedures and improve the overall operation and risk profile of the business
  • Experience in researching accounting questions in technical literature and documenting the result in a technical memo or policy
  • Help educate the organization on best-in-class accounting practices and processes
  • Ensure a framework and process are established to meet relevant regulatory requirements

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • CPA required
  • Big 4 public accounting experience required
  • Experience in associated industry
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and coach a team of varying experience and skill levels
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Excellent attention to detail, professional attitude, reliable
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while paying close attention to details.
