U-Haul International is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer for development of self-storage buildings, warehouses, and building reuse. Candidate must be a registered PE, SE, and is capable of completing the process to license in multiple jurisdictions/multiple states. This role will have responsibilities for the structural design disciplines, standard building plan sets, and review of outsourced construction documents. The candidate who is hired would provide Structural Engineering services related to various phases of design including: development of standard designs, calculations, plan details, QAQC, and field inspections/observations. This position is 85% desk and 15% field work. Compensation dependent on experience.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Provide standard building plan sets and details for use to develop multiple building projects
  • Communicate and coordinate project details with architects, consultants, and contractors
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all employees and team members
  • Communicate with construction owner’s representatives to resolve RFI’s and building plan comments
  • Advanced degree in Civil and Structural Engineering, License PE, SE
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD and EnerCalc or similar design software. Proficient competencies in Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
  • Proficient experience working with IBC and state building codes
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills. Smartsheet platform experience a plus
  • Experience with concrete, structural steel, cold formed steel, wood structures, and PEMB
  • Capable of performing field inspections to determine existing conditions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • This is a full-time position
