This is an entry-level position in a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users. Court Operations Clerks complete detail-oriented work on a variety of cases from multiple divisions while providing excellent customer service and copies of court records to members of the public and other court staff. This position assists court customers at the public service counter and answers routine phone calls regarding the records request procedure and status updates of submitted requests.

What You Will Do
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform.


  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting and communicating with court users in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner to ensure the customer's needs are effectively met over the phone, through electronic means, and at the front counter, by processing and locating information requests (verbal and written).
  • Accurately complete administrative work utilizing multiple court technology systems and available resources to complete data entry in all case types, process financial transactions, maintain daily statistics, and ensure appropriate customer access by adhering to Court Administrative Processes (CAPs) and standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • As this position may work partially remote, access to reliable internet connection is required during this time.

  • Ability to remain flexible by shifting priorities to meet the changing day-to-day demands of job role.

What is Nice to Have
  • Strong customer service and deescalating skills.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team, showing flexibility and initiative in assisting team members with multiple tasks.
  • Experience working with the Minnesota case management system (MNCIS), Application Xtender (AX), electronic document imaging, and electronic records management systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of current District Court policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.

Supplemental Information

What You Will Earn
The anticipated starting hourly rate for these positions is $20 for external hires, with an eligibility for an increase thereafter. Additional Information
The Centralized Records Center is located on the Skyway Level (A-040) and B-Level (B-100) of the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Hours for these positions will be 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. These positions are currently working both on-site and remote, which may change depending on business needs.

These AFSCME-represented positions are posted for bidding, internal, and external application simultaneously and will be filled in accordance with the AFSCME contract.

Work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
