COVID-19 Bilingual Support Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a temporary full-time position from the present time to March 31, 2023. Continued temporary employment is based on available funding from the Illinois Department of Human Services.
The COVID-19 Bilingual Support Specialist is responsible for conducting outreach, assisting clients with COVID-19 relief funding applications, gathering required documentation from clients, verifying eligibility, uploading documentation to the FIS portal, and data entry into the agency systems. Remote work is available at the discretion of the Bilingual Community Programs Supervisor. This position will be a temporary full-time position with the Puentes de Esperanza team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the program supervisor to identify appropriate activities and resources to support Spanish-speaking families.
- Conducts outreach to Spanish-speaking families for community resources and support.
- Connects with Spanish-speaking families for services.
- Receives and responds to requests for the COVID-19 relief fund application.
- Assesses eligibility of the clients, completes applications with clients, and gathers documentation as required in the application.
- Maintains written records of client interactions within the agency database. Maintains records and statistics as required by the agency and other funding sources and makes suggestions for revision and review. Performs other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Uploads and enters data into the FIS portal.
- Meets goals as stated in the grant/ program plan.
- Attends all training as identified by the agency and/or funder.
- Attends staffing and meetings as needed.
- Participates in and supports additional community events as an organization representative.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to conduct outreach within the target area.
- Interpersonal and communication skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- A High School diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be bilingual (Spanish & English) and have experience working with the Latino population.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have worked directly with Latino families for 2+ years.
- Must possess and retain a valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
- The personal characteristics and experiential background which enables the COVID-19 Bilingual Support Specialist to actively engage the Spanish-speaking community.
- Ability to receive a DCFS/CANTS Clearance.
