This is a 3rd shift position working (4) 10 hours shifts, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00pm to 6:30am.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Performs duties to prepare and pack parts for shipping, according to established practices, special instructions, or in compliance with particular requirements related to the shipping order. Reads blueprints as necessary. Builds crates and boxes around items to be shipped.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that guards and safety devices are installed on equipment and are operating properly. Performs required equipment safety inspections. Reports any discrepancies to Production Supervisor and shuts the equipment down.
  • Makes up cardboard crates, boxes, and liners to contain parts being shipped. Checks parts against packing lists. Counts parts to insure proper amount is packed.
  • Examines parts, visually, for any defects or damage and notifies Senior Operator of issues prior to wrapping. Cleans dust, grease, fingerprints, scratches, and blemishes off products with available cleaners. Marks and verifies cartons for contents, job number, address and any other special marks.
  • Moves materials or products using material handling equipment such as hand truck and dolly. Uses hand tools, knife, tape dispenser, hand stapler, weighing or measuring instruments, pneumatic staple guns, strappers, and other equipment as needed.
  • Reads Packing List to determine job requirements. Ensures that proper material quantity and color and profiles have been built for the job.
  • Builds crates and boxes around items of a wide range of sizes and shapes to be shipped, checking items against packing list.
  • Assures quality of work through accuracy, neatness, paying attention to details, thorough understanding of information, with minimal amount of rework. Conveys personal commitment to quality by demonstrating good quality behavior. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve quality of material or process.
  • Reports unusual conditions or problems to supervisor.
  • Observes company safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in work area.
  • Ensures conformance to all aspects of the ISO 14001 standard and Construction Specialties' Environmental Management System (EMS), including its environmental policy while performing job functions that may have a significant impact on the environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
