At Luna, our mission is to make quality, affordable vision care accessible for all.

Our diverse team is working to advance the vision industry with an ever-growing collection of innovative solutions designed to address the toughest challenges facing eyewear businesses and doctors. We offer suites of products and services that improve and increase vision prescription access, streamline online shopping with virtual try-on and facial measurements, and support fulfillment and delivery.

We partner with forward-looking eyewear retailers and brands, as well as eye doctors and optical shops, to accelerate their digital transformation with end-to-end solutions that revolutionize vision experiences online, offline, and everywhere in-between. Our solutions are currently used by over 10 million users each month, all around the world.

We have a diverse, talented group of 150 team members expected to grow to about 200 next year. We are moving swiftly to support this growth, which means you will need to wear lots of hats, be proactive, and be ready to have a massive impact. Our Creative Director must be ready to own all things design and brand. You will report to the VP, Marketing and have several direct reports, some of whom you will oversee hiring. Outside of marketing, your team will collaborate with Luna's product, sales, and client success teams to create strategic assets that move our company forward.

Why you want this job:

  • You love the idea of leading our (growing) team of designers and contractors to build, refine, and implement a new brand across all aspects of the business.
  • You are excited about the fact that the addition of your creative expertise and leadership to our team will help us move mountains.
  • You are excited about the challenge of building a global brand and launching innovative vision technology solutions.
  • You can pivot quickly from one project to another without losing sight of bigger goals.
  • You don't mind working on small, fast-turn design requests alongside larger strategic initiatives.
  • You're a leader and a problem solver—and working with a team that is committed to succeeding energizes you.
  • You work well with stakeholders from diverse groups and communicate needs clearly across the entire team.

What you'll do:

The Creative Director will oversee all brand design and creative development, working alongside our in-house designers as an experienced senior leader and collaborating with internal teams as we work together to achieve our goals.

  • Provide senior-level leadership, art direction, management, and mentorship to our in-house design team
  • Operate as a "player" and a "coach" for our creative team: execute design work while also mentoring and being the final approval on all deliverables from the creative team
  • Ensure that the Luna brand shines through all our corporate, marketing, sales enablement, and support materials
  • Create brilliant assets that meet the strategic goals of the marketing team, including, but not limited to: product videos, brand videos, slide decks (for webinars, sales, etc.), eGuides, banner ads, html emails, print materials, infographics, website content, landing pages, trade show booths, client marketing materials, and more.
  • Collaborate with product team on UI design
  • Provide UX input on Luna's native and web-based apps and solution flows
  • Facilitate and/or oversee asset development to support our marketing and sales teams, as well as grow Luna's position as a leader in the vision industry

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years' experience working as a creative director/art director in a creative field — digital agency experience is a plus.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and ability to work with marketing to create and manage campaigns
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud — Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Experience creating new brands or refining existing ones
  • Extensive expertise and experience designing and developing, well, everything: websites, products, print materials, marketing components, videos, apps, digital assets, etc
  • Ability to think deeply about user experience and then bring those ideas to fruition as you work with the creative team
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Innovative, proactive, and resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Data-driven approach to testing and learning
  • Deep organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines
  • Natural collaborator and team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher

About us:

We inspire and support each other in our mission to make quality, affordable vision care accessible for all.

Our diverse team includes engineers, eye doctors, entrepreneurs, creatives, and researchers who come together from all around the world to revolutionize the vision industry with smart, well-designed solutions. Our distributed workforce philosophy allows us to find the best fit for our roles based on talent, not on location.

We care a lot about doing the little things well and work hard to build a strong team culture. We organize online team events and activities to bring our remote teams together and find creative ways to build our culture with team members around the world.
