Title: Credit Balances Specialist

Status: Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Schedule: M-F; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST

Location: Remote (Must work in a location within the United States.)

Wage: Commensurate with Experience

Job Summary

The Credit Balances Specialist has extensive knowledge of credit balance resolutions, processes, and operating system applications used within the department. This position is responsible for resolving a challenging credit balance workload based on research, extensive experience and decision-making abilities. In addition, this position is assigned to specific workloads that need review for audits, time sensitive focuses, and review refund requests that qualify in delegated authority threshold tiers

Responsibilities

  • Resolve credit balances in a timely and accurate manner, including escalated requests

  • Process internal and external refund requests, including high-dollar requests

  • Resolves unidentified payments through research

  • Identify trends and escalate where appropriate

  • Helps ensure projects and tasks are completed in a timely manner

  • Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success

  • Coordinate, track and report to Supervisor on special projects

  • Ensures quality of work is delivered and provides assistance and direction to their team members on accounts that need additional review and assistance

  • Maintain accurate, clear, concise and complete notes and other relevant information in a timely manner

  • Closely adhere to set schedules and time off standards

  • Promote Tegria RCM as a premier organization by treating customers, clients and co-workers with compassion and respect

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographics, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.

  • Comply with all applicable, federal, state and local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as Tegria RCM policies and procedures in all aspect of job performance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent

  • Associates degree or equivalent education/experience

  • 3+ years technical experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, banking or finance

  • Experience process physician acute payment and denials (manually and electronically)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.

  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities, with excellent attention to detail and quality

  • Proactively approaches responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.

  • Proven skill of 10-key by touch.

  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers quickly and accurately.

  • Proven understanding of basic accounting techniques.

  • Proven ability to mentor team members

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet regular (e.g., daily, weekly, and monthly) deadlines in a high-volume setting.

  • Demonstrated service excellence customers, clients and team members

  • Proven effective and respectful face-to-face, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven sound judgment and ability to work within delegated authorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately resolve and escalate issues.

  • Proven excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment in a positive and professional manner.

  • Proven PC Proficiency in MS Windows and Office applications.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
