POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all credit card functions necessary to support the Finance and Accounting team of Wanzek Construction, Inc. and related companies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews, evaluates and assesses account information
  • Request, cancel, distribute and set up company credit and fuel cards in accounting system
  • Review the card transaction to ensure a valid business purpose has been met, all IRS requirements are in place, and the transaction is compliant with corporate policy and whether the cardholder chose the appropriate expense type
  • Assist employees in credit card system questions and provide training
  • Communicate and maintain good relationships with employees regarding card issues and questions
  • Monitor and ensure employees are submitting timely, accurate, and compliant expense reports
  • Ensure appropriate sales and use taxes are being reported on applicable credit card purchases
  • Reconcile credit card transactions to statements and prepare month end workpaper
  • Prepare monthly clearing function in accounting system
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for a more efficient and streamlined process with credit card processing
  • Investigate disputes and follow-up when necessary
  • Various other accounting duties as assigned by management
  • Serve on various committees to help Wanzek stay competitive
  • First line of contact with card companies for company-wide issues

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (or equivalent work experience)
  • B.S. in Accounting or Business-related area is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Viewpoint, Excel and CCH
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organization skills along with an attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and professionalism
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with multiple personalities at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to train multiple personalities at all levels within the organization
  • Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Assist supervisors with preparation of reports, bids, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
