Crisis Intervention Specialist

Summary – Townhall II is seeking caring, motivated individuals with a passion for helping others. Eligible candidates will answer our 24 hour Suicide / Crisis / Sexual Assault Helpline utilizing our Crisis Intervention Model to assist callers by providing crisis intervention and / or information and referrals. Candidates will also be answering additional lines designated for other agencies with which Townhall II has contracts. Townhall II’s Helpline provides a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment for those experiencing an emotional crisis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide interventions to callers or walk-in clients who contact the Helpline by implementing the Crisis Intervention Model taught during Helpline training.

· Provide current, relevant and comprehensive referrals to clients.

· Assist callers who contact Townhall II’s agency contract lines.

· Document required information appropriately and professionally.

· Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.

· Supervise volunteers by providing concise, appropriate verbal and written feedback.

· Update resources.

Qualifications

· Successful completion of Helpline training (will provide)

· Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.

· Willingness to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.

· Experience in suicide / crisis intervention preferred, but not required.

· Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

· Ability to multi-task and triage.

· Ability to work as a team.

TOWNHALL II HISTORY:

Townhall II has been serving Portage County residents for over 50 years. It is a “grassroots” organization that touches the lives of many people, supporting people who often feel helpless and hopeless. Our programs include alcohol and drug addiction treatment, mental health counseling, a 24 hour crisis hotline, victims of crime outreach and a variety of prevention/education programs.

Job Type: Full-time (32-40 hours/week) or Part-time (24 hours/week)
