Function

The Customer Service Representative at Parr Public Safety Equipment performs routine clerical duties and assists other employees as assigned by the Office Manager with tasks that include all or some of the following:

  • Answering and properly distributing all incoming phone calls in a professional and timely manner
  • Preparing accurate, attainable, and profitable quotations for merchandise and products to current and potential customers
  • Entering customer orders and managing web orders in a timely manner
  • Assisting walk-in customers with questions regarding showroom merchandise, uniform sizing, radar services, etc.
  • Updating product pricing periodically in our NetSuite system and maintaining up-to-date pricing in the showroom
  • Performing any other office duties and tasks as requested

Business development is one of the essential operation functions of a distributor. This includes all functions and operations that contribute to present and future revenue growth and planning. Those functions and activities include:

  • Identifying, contacting, and negotiating with potential and current customers to obtain sales for Parr Public Safety Equipment
  • Promoting the image of Parr Public Safety Equipment and the value that its products, services, and employees bring to the marketplace
  • Contributing to the development of business opportunities with new and established customers

Skill Requirements

The skill requirements of a Customer Service Representative at Parr Public Safety Equipment include:

  • A minimum high school diploma
  • A working knowledge of basic office practices
  • Excellent phone skills with the ability to communicate effectively in Standard American English, both written and oral, with customers, vendors, and employees
  • The ability to work effectively and professionally with other employees
  • The skills and knowledge necessary to keep all lines of communication open within the office and between external sources
  • A commitment to maintaining confidential personnel information, data, and records
  • The ability to listen, identify, and understand the needs of business clients through conversational interaction and converting needs into sales
  • The ability to compute business math formulas and enter data into Excel spreadsheets, journals, and ledgers on the computer

Physical Requirements

A significant amount of time will be devoted to the operation of a personal computer terminal and related or attached components. As such, the physical requirements of a Customer Service Representative at Parr Public Safety Equipment include:

  • The ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time
  • The ability to stand and walk within the company's offices, storage areas, and grounds
  • The ability to turn the head and torso
  • The ability to reach, grasp, bend, and flex the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers

Working Conditions

  • The work will be performed within a suite of temperature-controlled, non-smoking offices
  • The Customer Service Representative is expected to work 40 hours a week, excluding a mandatory, pre-established, 30 minute midday lunch period that will be coordinated with other employees to maintain full office coverage
  • The available work hours extend from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Reliable transportation to and from the place of work is necessary, even in adverse weather conditions.
  • The responsibilities of the position may require attending meetings or completing tasks before or after normal working hours as authorized by the Office Manager
  • This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
