Sequoyah High School is a 9-12 choice school located in Soddy Daisy, TN. Our school is focused on providing students with the skills, training, and industry certifications necessary to leave high school prepared to enter the workforce and/or post-secondary education. At Sequoyah, students from across Hamilton County can choose to attend and participate in a specific program of study.

We are a small learning community with a supportive school team. We are looking for teachers who have a sense of community, who are creative, and who look for unique ways to engage students in non-traditional ways.

Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.

• Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
• Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
• Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.

• Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
• Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.

• High School Diploma or above

• Five year of full time work experience out of the past eight years, required
• Examples of qualifying work experience include: welders and individuals with experience in blueprint reading, layout and fabrication using oxy-fuel cutting SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW processes on various metals

• AWS or US Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Certified Welding Educator Certification, or NOCTI Welding 5279 required.
