About Your Role:

Serious Eats is seeking a full-time culinary editor to join our team. The primary goal of this role is editing and developing standout recipe and technique content for the site, as well as broadening our network of unparalleled culinary contributors. This role is ideal for someone who (1) has extensive recipe-editing experience, (2) has strong cooking and recipe development chops, and (3) above all, adores food. This position reports to our Senior Culinary Director.

About Your Contributions:

  • Thoughtfully assign, thoroughly edit, and publish recipes on a daily basis.
  • Identify up-and-comers in the recipe space and manage relationships with them as they become regular Serious Eats contributors.
  • Pitch and strategize around larger editorial initiatives and facilitate new content for every big tentpole.
  • Oversee archival updates for culinary excellence and accuracy.
  • Monitor library update work for recipes in need of cross-testing, new photography, and more.
  • Develop recipes on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with the video team on our short- and long-form strategy.

About You:


  • 3-5 years experience editing recipes
  • A strong command of culinary technique
  • Experience writing engaging and meticulous copy, as well as the ability to conduct impenetrable research and reporting
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for developing recipes, particularly from a scientifically driven perspective
  • Experience working with freelancers, specifically in the food space
  • A love for all things related to food, cooking, and being in the kitchen, and a deep passion for connecting people through writing about food
  • Ability to work in a remote environment
  • Self-driven; high degree of collaboration and organization; ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment
