POSITION SUMMARY:

Purpose: To assist and act as functional driver of Delivery department. To perform manual (up to 50%) and driving (50%) work in the daily operations in delivery, transfer, will call and dispatching.

Scope: Responsible to assisting in Delivery, complete all necessary inspections before use the truck/tractor , Must acquire familiarity with the various types of merchandise and materials and equipment work associated with distribution center/warehouse environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• 
  State licensed and able to drive Class A trucks classification.
• Clean driver record (must meet LAC Driver SOP requirements).
• Physical fit and able to lift, push, pull, handle 75 to 100 pounds.
• Knowledge and experience to use Thomas Guide or navigation systems.
• Takes daily direction from the Delivery Supervisor and Group Leader.
• Able to use Material Handling Equipment(Electric/Manual pallet jacks)
• Able to work rotational and various duty hours when required.
• Assist load and down load when required.
• Must meet DOT medical exam certificate requirements and random medical evaluations.
• Inspect tractor and trailer before each trip as required by the statute (CHP)
• Deliver shipments to our other stores.
• Perform “Will Calls” at vendor locations and follow receiving procedures.(verified all product are in order, good condition and complete)

• Practice proper lifting methods and work habits to avoid injury and strain. Train all assigned help in same. Report all injuries, regardless of how minor, administer first aid to injured person and fill out proper paperwork with supervisor as soon as possible.

• Associate must be flexible and available to support to work requirements during retail peak periods and during sales fluctuations. Scheduling of days off may be superseded based on workload requirements to fulfill operational needs, as necessary.
• Other related duties maybe assigned.

DUTIES:

Typical: This position exists within delivery department of the LAC Distribution Center. Merchandise ordered by the system (AR) and processed and shipping by PRIYA; prepared for delivery to the proper retail stores or vendor locations.

• The Delivery Dept Class A driver must be very detailed oriented and extremely accurate as mistakes could result in waste in effort to correct or prove very costly to remedy in terms of cost of product lost, etc… Additionally, the nature of driving a tractor-trailer rig in traffic and congested freeways is inherently dangerous and the driver must exercise extreme caution and vigilance to prevent accidents which could be costly in terms of product, equipment and personal injury claims.

Received: Direct supervision Delivery Supervisor/Duty Supervisor or higher DC/Operations Group management

Given: To assigned departmental associates in course of daily tasking and in accordance with Supervisors direction or oversight.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Usual: The working environment is a DC/warehouse without air condition and with a cement floor where nearly 100% of the day is spent. Temperatures vary from approximately 40 degrees in the winter to 100 degrees plus in the summer. There is an air-conditioned administrative areas in the warehouse for office and technical work spaces. Position involves potentially going in and out of the air-conditioned space into the warehouse throughout the day.

Special: Some exposure though minimal to weather and physical hazards which are normal for a DC/warehouse environment. In the process of moving boxes and packages from one location to another, the associate must lift, bend, stoop, climb and pull. This position requires working at heights in order to store items in storage racks. Individuals in this job will be on their feet approximately 100% of each day.
