POSITION SUMMARY:

The Custodial Supervisor performs responsible supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, laboratories, furnishings and equipment. As well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electronically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides a clean and safe environment for the ST. Thomas community, clients, and other administrative staff.
  • Provide leadership and direction to non-exempt employees
  • Interact with outside vendors
  • Ensure Operating Standards in the custodial department are consistent
  • Develop/implement action plans for improvement in ST. Thomas University's Custodial Department as identified. Round on custodial staff and designated areas to track cleanliness

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Will report to and be overseen by The Associate Vice President of Facilities, Eric Wilkymacky

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

  • Will supervise all non-exempt custodial employees, work studies, and temporary staff that ae in the department

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • May be exposed to chemical, mechanical or electrical hazard.
  • May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions.
  • May be required to lift, push and or pull up to 70 lbs.
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Tuition Benefit

After 1 year of continuous full‐time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition‐free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
