Position: Full-Time Night Custodian

Hours: Eight (8) hours per day, 2:30pm-10:30pm

Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

Supervision: Reports to Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and the Building Principal.

Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:

Required: Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.

Preferred: High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Prior experience as a school custodian or the equivalent. Driver’s license.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Special assignments, assembly set up, gymnasium bleachers and discussions related to management-based issues, including those related to quality of work, will be initiated with the day custodian at the start of each day’s shift. Organize schedule of part-time custodians to assist in assembly set-up, gymnasium bleachers, special events, etc. Assist with snow removal. This may require morning, evening, and/or weekend work.

2. DAILY:

• Sweeps all tiled floors, wet mop spills
• Vacuum all carpeted areas including entrance mats, hall mats, and classroom rugs
• Dust all window shelves, televisions, blinds, thermostats, and counter tops
• Clean and disinfect all classroom sinks daily.
• Empty trash; replace can liner if soiled, wash trash can if dirty
• Dry mop all hallways and entrance areas. Use auto scrubber
• Clean and disinfect all drinking fountains in assigned area
• Clean all lavatories as instructed
• Remove graffiti

3. WEEKLY:

• Wet mop entire classroom(s)
• Clean all windows in assigned area

4. BI-WEEKLY

• Burnish hallways

5. Empty recyclable bin in approved container for pick up as needed.

6. Position requires mandatory overtime, as needed.

7. Responsible for the security of the building. Each night you will be responsible for securing the building. Report maintenance requests, (lights, heat, windows, etc), for the building and equipment. Request will be made using the appropriate procedures.

8. This position requires the use of cleaning chemicals, finish removers, floor machines, and wet/vac machines. Some chemicals have strong orders but are necessary and required for the job.

9. Position requires the ability to lift heavy objects, shovel snow, spread sand and salt on sidewalks.

10. Job requires the use of machinery (i.e. lawnmowers, weed whackers, snow blowers etc.)

11. The hours of work for this shift will be 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm (unless overtime is needed) with two 15 minute breaks, 30 minute paid lunch break

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.44 per hour
