Position Summary
The Customer Care Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service regarding nursery stock, construction, aquatic, fencing, and irrigation material to our wholesale and internal customers. This includes receiving and assisting with inventory, providing administrative assistance to internal and external customers and other duties as assigned. The person in this position operates under general supervision, and reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides quality customer service assisting customers in person, over the phone and via email.
- Greets and assists walk-in customers and employee’s in-person with inventory and purchasing needs.
- Answers incoming phone calls, assisting customers over the phone with selection of nursery stock, construction, aquatic, irrigation and fencing material for purchase. Completes sales orders for each customer sale.
- Communicates with customers regarding availability, product selection and pickup or delivery of orders.
- Serves as horticulture expert in regard to inventory and nursery stock.
- Receives inventories and assists with mid-year and year inventory.
- Generates sales orders, picking tickets and invoices.
- Receives and posts customer payments (cash, credit, or check).
- Assists with quotes.
- Creates and posts load slips, verifying accuracy of information.
- Responsible for data entry and updating information in Microsoft Navision (NAV) and BKD.
- Prints tags, wholesale nursery orders, tree spade orders, and field stock planting lists.
- Responsible for maintaining files and organization, including filing.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with all Company staff and customers to ensure maximum efficiency and customer service. This may include following up as appropriate.
- May assist plant loading dock or warehouse with plants, orders and receiving.
- May assist with nursery liners receiving.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed indoors.
- Exposure to standard office conditions, including exposure to heating and air conditioning and operation of computer.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual will demonstrate and perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ability to effectively communicate and interact, in a positive manner, with all Company personnel, regulatory agencies, customers, consultants and other contractor personnel is also required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education, Certification and License:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or similar field of study is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of previous office experience is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Navision (NAV) is helpful.
Specific Requirements:
- Must have horticulture knowledge and proficiency in plant characteristics.
- Excellent proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Proficient in use of computers.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, and Excel. .
- Mathematical skills, such as calculation of addition, subtraction, multiplication and dimensions (areas, diameters, etc) is necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality working with sensitive customer and organizational information.
- Must be fluent in English, ability to speak Spanish is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly sits, stands, walks, talks and listens for long periods of time throughout the day.
- Squats, stoops, or kneels and lifts objects from ground.
- Occasionally lifts weight of up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to reach above shoulders.
- Vision and fine motor skills required for use of computers and creating communication.
Job Specifications
- This is a Full-time (40-50 hours per week) Year Round position.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am to 5:00pm.
- Overtime may be required as workload dictates.
- Hours vary during peak season.
- Possible Saturday hours assisting with mid-year and year end.
