St. Louis County has an exciting opportunity for customer focused individuals to be part of our Customer Service team. These roles deploy an online, inbound, and in person approach for County citizens to communicate their needs via in person customer service assistance, inbound phone calls, and internet response. Put your exemplary customer service skills to use and strengthen citizen support through timely service request remediation and general question first contract resolution. Work locations will be Clayton and Northwest Crossings in St. Ann.

The starting salary for this position is $15.00 hourly. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy. Examples of Duties

  • Answer and remediate any type of inbound citizen calls and work within performance metric targets.
  • Moderate an inbound service request queue, understand and explain internal process workflows and interact with County Department personnel responsible for executing requests.
  • Identify root cause issues and resolve complex citizen questions.
  • Locate, maintain and update information maintained in knowledge base.
  • Link citizens to external agencies when requests fall outside the County's jurisdiction.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of customer or call center experience.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.

Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County. Additionally, new employees will have 30 calendar days, after their first day of employment, to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status. Instructions on how to submit this attestation will be provided once employment has begun. County employees are not required to be fully vaccinated, but those who are not fully vaccinated must submit to weekly COVID-19 testing until they are fully vaccinated or St. Louis County geographically reaches a 70% vaccination rate and a moderate transmission level of COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
