Customs Consulting & Compliance Specialist responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
• File customs entries
• Perform entry summary audits
• Establish and support duty avoidance and duty recovery programs
• Research and file Post Summary Corrections and Protests
• Provide U.S. Customs Clearance guidance in response to existing and prospect customer questions
• Keep current with developing trends, new regulations and CBP or OGA programs
• Consult with new importers on U.S. Customs and OGA regulations
• Review and identify Customs compliance issues
• Assist customers in establishing a customs compliance manual
• Increase service offerings through business development and prospecting patenting clients

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High school Diploma or GED
• Bachelor Degree with relevant import/export experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• 5+ years’ Customs regulations, clearance and brokerage experience preferred
• Working knowledge and understanding of Customs brokerage operations, filing customs entries, tariff classifications, OGA requirements and inbound transportation preferred
• Ability to communicate complex concepts and our company services clearly and in an influential manner tailored to the audience
• Strong organizational and detail skills with ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload and adapt to changes to meet business needs and customer expectations
• Ability to answer existing, prospect and new customer inquiries while exuding a high level of customer service
• Ability to problem-solve and manage complex transactional and emotional customer situations promptly and professionally while achieving commitments for service and assistance
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Cargowise One Software preferred
• U.S Customs Brokerage License a plus
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bi-lingual Spanish a plus
