What You’ll Get to Do

  • Enters data into variety of computer systems.
  • Enters data in prescribed format for subsequent processing.
  • Reviews error messages and makes corrections during data entry.
  • Maintains operating records.
  • Logs and controls documents.
  • Works in a professional environment with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and legal support for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, headquarters located in Las Vegas.
  • In this capacity, performs docketing and records management function using the computerized case tracking and record-keeping system called LIONS.
  • This automated system is a management tool which provides information used to manage litigation from initial referral to final disposition, and to provide comprehensive data for resource planning and evaluation.
  • Track matters and cases by AUSA, listing of defendants by civil or criminal offensives, calendaring trial and motion due dates, tracking of the number of convictions, acquittals and appeals, and for the tracking of civil and criminal collections and asset forfeitures.
  • The management reports generated from the LIONS system are critical tools used by the headquarters office for annual statistical reporting to Congress and for the distribution and allocation of additional human resources.
  • The records management function includes working with AUSAs and legal support in maintaining and disposing of federal records in accordance with federal and Department of Justice guidelines.
  • Assist in closing out and purging case files and preparing closed case files for shipment to the Federal Records Center (FRC).
  • Preparation of files for shipment involves adherence to quality control standards to distinguish agency records from non-record material and insuring use of secured shipping protocols established by agency policy.
  • Communication skills are extremely important. Works and interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • One to two (1-2) years of general data entry experience to include experience operating an alphanumeric keyboard.
  • Experience in a litigation support environment preferred.
  • Must have experience operating a variety of office automation equipment and personal computers.
  • Must have ability to work independently and be detail oriented.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Computer Skills: Applicant must have the ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access or other data bases, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Skill in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner.
