Responsibilities:

A successful candidate for this role possesses the demonstrated ability to work with large, complex data, tease out insight using a combination of modeling, regression, and machine learning techniques and provide results in a useful format. The Data Scientist/Analyst will design, analyze and evaluate data management systems to include data modeling and visualization, metadata, repository creation and configuration management. Using data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools, the Data Scientist/Analyst will be able successfully prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses. The Data Scientist/Analyst should have a proven track record of and ability to analyze complex data and gather meaningful insights, in addition to demonstrating excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills with a strong passion and curiosity for big data.


The Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Delivering meaning from massive volumes of data to provide insights and analytics for trends, activities, and patterns of life with data.
  • Conduct research and analysis of data to produce patterns of life and other derivative data to ease the workload of analysts.
  • Reviewing ingest and output data for anomalies, in support of activities and continued evaluation of analytics in the data lifecycle.

Required:


  • Demonstrated experience with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, C/C++, Java & Perl in order to write scripts to parse, analyze, and clean up large sets of data in order to identify new intelligence and insights.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining cloud infrastructure, especially Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Proficient in the use of data management tools including Tableau, Hadoop tools, MapReduce, Hive, NoSQL and Oracle Databases
  • Proficient in developing data visualizations
  • Experience using version control systems, such as Github
  • Ability to work with large datasets to generate complex analytics leading to meaningful, actionable intelligence
  • Ability to provide rigor to analytical design and methods, plan for data processing and querying many times of data sources, design an appropriate analysis plan, assess effective ways of presenting and delivering results to maximize impact and interpretability, implement and/or oversee data ingestion process from start to finish
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and administering Microsoft SharePoint sites
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting data models and developing database structures
  • Proficient in translating customer requirements into system specifications
  • Experience with data management, data engineering and application development
  • Ability to create examples, prototypes and conduct demonstrations
  • Understanding of design and architecture principles
  • Ability to work in a team environment to collaboratively analyze feasibility of requirements, propose workable solutions, and work towards successful project outcome

Desired:

  • Experience with translating complex technical findings into a narrative (i.e. tell a story with data) in graphics, verbal or written form
  • Creative problem-solving skills to address procedural and administrative issues with assigned problem

Salary Range: Salary Minimum: $57,500 Salary Mid: $115,000 Salary Maximum: $143,800 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
