Position Title: EAS Information Systems: Database Administrator

Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Application Services, the Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. This position supports both in-person and remote workplaces.
- Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle database ·
- Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones ·
- Work with the Information Technology teams to ensure the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are sufficient to guarantee high availability and optimum performance ·
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues ·
- Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements ·
- Work with Information Technology teams to design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of university data assets ·
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases ·
- Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs
- Perform database transaction and security audits and establish appropriate end-user database access control levels ·
- Develop routines for end-users to facilitate best practices database use ·
- Analyze and recommend approach and time frame for administrative systems upgrades and installations; coordinate ERP upgrades with the lead analysts for the various system modules including service ticket submission; install ERP related upgrades and patches
- Maintain high level of familiarity with service tickets · Provisioning of new Oracle users
- Maintenance of privileges for users, roles
- Creation and maintenance of database objects and structures
- Problem resolution of technical database issues
- Participate in administration of job submission systems
- Submit service tickets for services related to upgrades, patches, and technical issues >>
Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science or related field- Proven Oracle Database Administration experience
- Experience of managing multiple Relational Database Management Systems on large systems
- Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning an Oracle database to provide a high availability service
- Demonstrated hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience
- Extensive experience with Oracle SQL
- Experience with Oracle PL/SQL
- Knowledge of certain essential tools
- SQL Developer or Toad, SQLPlus, etc.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix OS
