Responsibilities:

The Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and administration of the enterprise-wide databases that support the company’s business infrastructure. This involves database design, implementation, high availability, networking, securing, patching, upgrading, monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting Oracle and Microsoft SQL database environments on premise and on Microsoft Azure and OCI cloud. This position requires the understanding of the needs of applications and data warehouse design to be able to implement efficient data models into a functional DB system.


  • Install and configure database and supporting software for Oracle and SQL Server database systems (on premise and in Azure/OCI cloud platform).
  • Create, administer, and secure databases and associated resources in Microsoft Azure/Oracle Cloud or other public cloud platforms.
  • Create and manage Azure platform services like App service, storage accounts, Functions, key vaults, and Azure SQL DB and other cloud services based on requirements.
  • Utilize Azure Active directory to manage identities of database users and other Microsoft services.
  • Administration of Database change management in test and production environments.
  • Monitor performance of hardware and software and resolve system issues and outages.
  • Troubleshoots problems regarding the databases, applications, and development tools.
  • Create and manage backup and recovery and DR strategies to support appropriate recovery points and recovery times.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Assist with the migration of existing databases to other systems/platforms such as SQL and Cloud based systems.
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional teams concerning software upgrades, new software features and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal hardware infrastructure team for hardware upgrades, storage administration and maintenance.
  • Enforce best practice methodologies.
  • Create update and maintain documentation for operational, configuration, or other procedural purposes.
  • Provide after hours on-call support as part of a rotational schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience supporting databases (Oracle and/or SQL) on premise or in the cloud in enterprise environments. This involves experience with database design, implementation, high availability, networking, securing, patching, upgrading, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with Azure Cloud and Azure Active directory.
  • Experience with backup and recovery of databases and OS backups.
  • Good knowledge of shell, Perl or equivalent scripting language and the ability to automate task wherever possible.
  • Strong troubleshooting techniques and ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Strong ability and desire to learn and become effective with new technologies and applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical staff and managers.
  • Strong ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.


Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience in a Hybrid, Multi-Cloud environment primarily using AZURE. Knowledge of Azure IaaS & PaaS technology stack is desirable
