The Manager of Data Services & Donor Relations reports to the VP of Development & Corporate Relations and collaborates with all departments/consultants to support data management, engagement, and fundraising efforts.
This position is responsible for managing the Salesforce for Nonprofits donor database and oversees all gift and record processing, prospect identification, and assists with stewardship efforts, fundraising strategy, and program support. The Manager of Data Services & Donor Relations facilitates the efficient operation, use, and maintenance of programs and systems, including but not limited to the donor database, online and event registration, and mobile bidding.
The position oversees data analysis, data modeling, and forecasting, and provides insight into trends and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Data Management and Analysis
- Serve as the primary supervisor of Salesforce and supporting systems; oversee all functions of the donor & prospect database and financial reporting, online & event giving, and registration software.
- Create, configure, and manage reports for analysis to evaluate the success of campaigns, individual donor/prospect solicitation, and stewardship goals.
- Ensure accurate use and recording of solicitation codes and correspondence tracking, including after mailings and e-blasts.
- Prepare accurate lists for mailings, solicitations, e-newsletters, annual reports, and program campaigns.
- Oversee system maintenance and clean up. Ensure DetecTogether capitalizes on the benefits offered by Salesforce for Nonprofits, help identify needed apps/extensions, design reports and dashboards, and help to train staff.
Gift Processing and Stewardship
- Assure gift and data processes are compliant with appropriate IRS, state, and federal regulations; provide back-up gift and other data entry support as needed; reconcile donor records with the general ledger monthly & partake in annual audit.
- Maintain gift processing and acknowledgement processes; ensure timely donor acknowledgements, including thank you letters and tax receipts.
- Send and track acknowledgments; develop a system to automate acknowledgements of event registration and smaller gifts.
- Create and implement pledge management & invoice system.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, and VP of Development to develop and implement Annual Fund strategies & donor stewardship processes.
Prospect Management & Donor Development
- Oversee the development, management, and implementation of innovative and first-class donor relations programs to enhance donor communication, prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship.
- In collaboration with the VP, create, manage, and update portfolios of donors who can support DetecTogether, routinely update to align with fundraising metrics and goals.
- Assist in the development of donor engagement strategies through consultative portfolio reviews.
- In collaboration with the VP of Development, employ advanced research data collection and analysis skills (using public, proprietary, purchased or leased databases, published materials and other resources) to proactively identify, research, and assess the giving capacity of prospective donors.
- In collaboration with the VP of Development, oversee foundation and grant operations including but not limited to; consultant support, deadline management, reports, data collection, stewardship, & prospecting
- On an ongoing basis, screen event attendance lists to identify prospects.
Other Functions
- Oversee the engagement, stewardship, and support of DetecTogether Charity Athletes (e.g., Boston/New York Marathon, Falmouth Road Race, Golf Fights Cancer).
- Support DetecTogether’s Signature Event with an emphasis on registration, back-end auction support, and invoice management.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of an associates degree and 5 years of experience and is:
- Curious and has exceptional tactical thinking skills
- Is hands on with strong attention to detail
- A strong project manager with the ability to juggle, think quickly, and make independent decisions
- As a member of a small organization, willing to pitch-in when all hands are needed
- A problem-solver who can get things moving, keep them on track, and switch gears if needed

Working Environment:
Office environment with a hybrid schedule (Mondays and Fridays are remote if desired). May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. Occasional travel required.

- Interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
- Must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
