Job Summary

The Licensed Mental Health Therapist (i.e., Licensed Professional or LP) is part of a Day Treatment team. The Licensed Mental Health Professional acts as the Team Leader for the Day Treatment Team. The Day Treatment team consists of the Licensed Professional/team leader (LP), Day Treatment Program Director, Qualified Professionals (QP's), and Associate Professionals (AP)/Paraprofessionals (PP). The Licensed Professional provides supervision to the Qualified Professionals, Paraprofessionals, and Associate Professionals within the program. The LP assists their clients in learning, developing, and utilizing coping strategies, social skills, and other skills to become successful and improve functioning in the school, home, and community settings. The LP provides weekly individual therapy sessions with all clients as well as monthly family therapy sessions with all clients and their families.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides weekly individual therapy sessions for all clients.
  • Provides monthly family therapy sessions for all clients and their families.
  • Conducts weekly team meetings with all Day Treatment staff to review client cases.
  • Supervises Day Treatment Qualified Professionals, Paraprofessionals, and Associate Professionals.
  • Develops and implements the Person Centered Plan for each client, revises and updates the PCP as needed, including adding psychoeducational/psychotherapeutic interventions to the client's PCP as needed.
  • Provides additional case management functions of linking, arranging for services, and referrals for each client.
  • Keeps in close contact with families and people involved in the client's care to encourage and promote family involvement.
  • Documents each client's progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions outlined in the PCP. This includes a written progress note for each individual and family therapy session with client.
  • Collaborates with the medical and treatment providers.
  • Collaborates with school staff and administration.
  • Conducts updated/yearly Comprehensive Clinical Assessments for current clients if needed.
  • Utilizes time management for facility functions and programs.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are being carried out and that all committees are active and are conducted properly.
  • Ensures that all treatment goals are being met and that they are beneficial to the client.
  • Mediates between the clients and environment ensuring the least restrictive environment is available to help the clients improve capabilities for independence (school, level of care, etc.).
  • Ensure psychiatric consultation shall be available for each consumer.
  • Train staff on each client's person centered plan and review staff's daily documentation.
  • Ensure staff is following HIPPA procedures as it relates to visitors and disclosing client information.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals and associate professionals regarding responsibilities related to the implementation of each client treatment plan.
  • Monitor services, update staff on medication changes and/or appointments scheduled and manage day to day operations.

Qualifications and Skills

-must meet the requirements for licensed or provisionally licensed professional according to staff definitions 10A NCAC 27G .0104.

-must be a minimum of .5 (FTE) dedicated professional for every 18 enrolled recipients and be actively involved in service delivery.

-must be fully licensed within 30 months from the date of hire.

-must have the skill, knowledge, and ability with child/adolescent mental health.

-If the Day Treatment Program is a substance use program, the LP must be an LCAS.

-must complete the training requirements indicated by the service definition.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
