Position Summary

This role evaluates, develops, analyzes and monitors the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, programs and initiatives that foster a spirit of inclusion and engagement across the organization. The incumbent works closely with HR and business leadership to provide strategic insight, resources, tools and action planning support to advance diversity, equity & inclusion goals within the context of strategic talent management and business objectives. This role manages DEI across a complex enterprise of dispersed associates within support and operational roles throughout ADUSA Distribution & ADUSA Transportation.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Initiative Leadership:

  • Ensures consistency between diversity policies and practice; that there are open opportunities leading to upward mobility for all associates and that the environment of the Company fosters inclusion through effective policies/procedures, processes, systems and behaviors.
  • Ensures that diversity is a component in business programs and activities.
  • Provides direction and input in the development and/or enhancement of new and existing company policies/procedures, practices, systems and department specific inclusion training gaps relative to the workforce, management leadership, vendors and customers.
  • Provides DEI expertise to business leaders while monitoring the marketplace for DEI trends.
  • Ensure proposed partnerships, campaigns and content (internal and external/vendor-facing) are authentic, inclusive and supportive of DEI.

Collaborative Partnerships & Programming:

  • Provides leadership and best-practice governance to diversity, equity & inclusion programs and initiatives that include but are not limited to: Business Resource Groups; Diversity Leadership Council(s); Diversity Communications Planning; DE&I Training Programs.
  • Develops and operationalizes BRG guiding principles, toolkits, guidelines, and templates. Provides effective guidance and coaching to BRG leaders, ensuring alignment and integration of BRG strategic plans, budgets, and programming.
  • Provides program management support for BRG initiatives.
  • Provides framework and guidance for BRG membership records, budget, and expense management.
  • Influences and inspires groups to drive tangible operational change, as well as awareness, education, and engagement events. Provides recommendations and input in the development and/or enhancement of new and existing company policies/procedures, and practices.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to drive increased Supplier Diversity, establishing goals and measuring progress.
  • Provides proactive educational programs to support the company's commitment to DE&I. Identifies external partners that can help to support the company’s DE&I strategies and ambitions.

Benchmarking, Metrics & Recognition:

  • Monitors industry developments, evaluates emerging trends, and conducts benchmark comparisons.
  • Plans annual external recognition programs such as Top Women in Grocery and Women of Influence, collaborating with the HRBP teams on execution; ensured focus on external brand benchmarks such as the HRC Corporate Equality Index.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the company's global DE&I objectives through the continued development of an overarching DE&I strategy.
  • Builds and maintains systems and a scorecard to track, measure, and report on diversity initiatives and programs.
  • Utilizes data to determine opportunities and identify barriers to the success of diversity strategies.

Education

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or other related discipline.
  • DEI Certification (SHRM Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential, HRCI’s Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management, American Management Association Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate Program, or other reputable certificate.)

Experience

  • 6-8 years’ experience in DE&I, Human Resources, Talent Management, or another related field.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects to successful completion simultaneously.
  • Proven success with identifying new ways of operating and adapting to change.
  • Success in rolling out a project or initiative to a dispersed audience via multiple modes of communication.
  • Experience building trust and securing buy in from business and people leaders.
  • Ability to influence and guide multiple groups without direct reporting relationships.
