Job Summary


The Enrollment Services Dean develops, administers, supervises, and directs student enrollment programs and services for Glendale Community College Enrollment Services team which includes: academic advisement; admissions, records, and registration; financial aid, global education services, veterans’ services; online student information systems. The Dean is an experienced professional with exemplary leadership, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills who can work effectively and collaboratively in a highly complex and challenging environment. This includes leadership, planning, and implementation expertise in large scale strategic enrollment management innovations and scalable operational business models that impact a large portion of the college while working with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, and partners. The Dean demonstrates a commitment to student success, retention and completion, service excellence, innovation, and collaboration. This position reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Essential Functions


35% - Leadership and Strategic Enrollment Management: Provides leadership for strategic enrollment management planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating assigned student support services areas; develops, administers, and enforces policies standards pertaining to assigned areas; directs, plans, and conducts the research necessary for the evaluation and improvement of support programs and services; provides leadership for enrollment planning, keeps abreast of compliance and reporting standards with the district, state, and federal regulations.

35% - Direct Enrollment Process: Develops and implements student enrollment processes that meet strategic priorities, qualitative and quantitative enrollment management goals that meet student enrollment and retention targets, works in conjunction with MCCCD on enrollment initiatives, build partnerships with external stakeholders and four-year institutions to create transfer pathways for students completing or expressing an interest to transfer; analyzes weekly enrollment reports to keep college administration, faculty and staff informed of critical enrollment trends and decisions.

20% - Supervision and Budget Development; Hires, evaluates, supervises, and trains direct report staff in areas of Veterans, Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Advisement, and Global Education Services; administers departmental budget; interprets and resolves technical and complex issues and problems; maintains liaison with students, faculty and others in resolving student matters; develops and implements training for faculty and staffing areas of college-wide enrollment services and provides leadership in the interpretation of state/federal guidelines.

10% - College and District-wide Initiatives-Serves on campus and/or District committees related to strategic enrollment. Develops, supports, and maintains liaison relationships with academic affairs, administration, student services, business, industry, national organizations, community, and educational partners; Maintains liaison with college institutional advancement office, maintains strong partnerships with students, faculty, and staff to promote college-wide initiatives that support strategic enrollment management within and outside the institution.

Minimum Qualifications


Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. No degree equivalency.

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a student affairs leadership role in higher education supporting a diverse population of students, staff and faculty.
  • Experience developing and implementing initiatives and/or services to promote student success
  • Experience with developing, implementing, and managing budgets and grant or contract funded projects
  • Experience in strategic planning for student enrollment services
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining external partnerships within the community
  • Experience providing strategic leadership to multiple departments

Special Working Conditions

  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver’s license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD/GCC locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
