The Dean of Nursing is responsible for the overall oversight of the Nursing Division with programs at the associate, baccalaureate, and graduate levels. Serves as the senior administrative and academic officer of the division leading faculty and staff, overseeing and revising curriculum as necessary, and serving as the knowledge expert for specialized accreditation.
Essential Job Functions
- Serves as a member of the VPAA/DOF’s Academic Council, which serves as the academic leadership team for the College. Leads through an integrative framework to build synergies across campus.
- Leads the nursing division in setting its strategic direction in alignment with the overall college mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
- Collaborates and partners with the Assistant Dean of Nursing to accomplish goals/objectives/KPI’s for the division.
- Provides leadership in curriculum assessment (SPE), academic program review, and development and revision of existing and new academic programs and initiatives.
- Oversees and implements division policies and processes required to seek and maintain programmatic accreditation along with self-studies for accreditation visits in collaboration with nursing team members.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in building relationships/partnerships that support the mission of the division and College (i.e., advising, tutoring, student affairs, enrollment, OCDD, IPE, etc.)
- Leads the division in collaboration with the Director of DEI to create a sense of belonging in the nursing division.
- Participates actively in the recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation of faculty and staff in supporting a collegial and professional atmosphere that encourages and ensures growth in teaching, scholarship and service.
- Contributes teaching, scholarship, and service to the College as outlined by the VPAA.
- Plans and manages the division’s budget, personnel, and strategic planning in collaboration with the VPAA.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and best practices within nursing and higher education in general.
- Leads and serves on committees as appropriate or assigned.
- Oversees the Youngstown location until December 2023.
- Collaborates with BSMH as appropriate on projects, initiatives, etc.
Employment Qualifications
- Required Minimum Education: Doctorate of Nursing (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required: 5-7 years as a dean, assistant, dean, or chair of nursing.
