Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery is looking for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant for our Southside office. We're looking for a motivated self-starter interested in working in a fast-past and dynamic oral surgery environment to help promote exceptional patient service. The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant performs patient care activities as a member of the surgical team and will also assist with sterilization of instruments and equipment. Office-based surgery experience preferred. If you are interested in joining our team here are the responsibilities of the role:
- Greet and seat patients
- Take digital x-rays and CT scans
- Assist with chart documentation during evaluations, surgical procedures and post-operative appointments
- Prepare evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures
- Prepare surgical trays
- Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures
- Recover patients
- Maintain sterilization
Employment Qualifications
- Oral and Maxillofacial surgery experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery
- Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- CPR certification preferred
- Radiology certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Assist with sedated patients
- Prolonged periods of standing and bending
