Job description
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Rockhurst University seeks an innovative and dynamic leader for the position of Department Chair. The Chair is a member of the faculty who provides vision and academic leadership for the undergraduate and graduate CSD programs. The position is an 11-month, full-time, tenure-track eligible position.
As one of only five CSD Departments in the American Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the Rockhurst CSD Department has a 20-year history of excellence in scholarly, academic, and clinical preparation of students. Community partnerships are at the heart of this well-established program where students gain clinical skills in real-world environments. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Undergraduate and Graduate CSD Programs
- Support faculty development across teaching, research, and service
- Maintain a productive line of scholarship
- Serve on a variety of college and university-level committees
- Complete yearly reports and ensure compliance with all accreditation activities
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion
Qualifications
- Research doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a full-time tenure-track eligible faculty member in a CSD program or comparable experience
- ASHA Certification in Speech-Language Pathology
- Strong record of successful teaching in higher education (including hybrid and online formats)
- Record of scholarly contributions to the CSD field
- Record of positive leadership in CSD
- Evidence of strong, positive departmental collaboration
- Experience with program development and accreditation
- Alignment with the mission of Rockhurst University
