There is a job opening in the BAY COUNTY DEPARTMENT ON AGING.
JOB TITLE: Department on Aging Support Staff
RATE OF PAY: $12.02 per hour entry, progressing to $13.82 per hour after two years (TS03)
This is a part-time position with variable hours (0 to 29 hours per week; no minimum hours are guaranteed; hours may vary according to need); variable days per week. Limited benefits are provided for within the United Steelworkers Part-time agreement although union membership is voluntary.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Department Director, this position provides general light duty repair and maintenance to senior citizen homes throughout Bay County. Work schedules will vary and be based on confirmed appointments. Starting and ending time of each day is determined by the appointments made.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides minor home repairs. No contractor work.
2. Provides assistance with window air conditioning installation and removal (first floor only).
3. Delivery of meals to the Activity Centers Monday-Friday.
4. Provides custodial support to Canteen Activity Center multiple times a week.
5. Will cover custodial support for Riverside Activity Center and Central Kitchen as needed.
6. Punctual and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
7. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess a high school diploma/GED and must possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record and auto insurance. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry required. Must be able to be organized and properly plan out material needs. Must be familiar with the use and care of power tools. Must be able to work in cold and/or poor weather conditions. Applicants may be required to take written and or other examinations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires sitting, being mobile, bending and/or standing for significant periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: generally, 20-50 pounds of force up to one third of the time. Applicants must be able to lift and be physically able to complete work assignment in a timely manner in the home setting.
