Overview:
The Deputy Director, Investment Operations will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer in maintaning operations and establishing process for the investment team. The investment team is responsible for the oversight, management, and monitoring of the endowment assets as well as advising the Investment Committee in establishing risk and return objectives and investment policy. CFR is supported by a $530 million endowment portfolio which is allocated across 20+ external money managers investing in a diverse array of asset classes and strategies including global equity, hedge funds, and private investments.
The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to)::
  • Overseeing all investment team operations – maintain and proof monthly and quarterly reporting utilizing custom software; monitor capital calls, distributions, redemptions, and related cash flows; oversee the preparation of new investment subscription documents and support the onboarding of new managers; coordinate requests from existing managers; liaise with CFR finance staff; and mentor/train more junior team members
  • Maintaining and further developing risk reporting, portfolio monitoring, and performance attribution tools; evaluating current capabilities versus market best practices
  • Leading the monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of external service, software, and data providers to improve the efficiency of the investment function – in the near term, the Council anticipates launching a custodial review
  • Refining and overseeing investment documentation and knowledge management processes and systems, including coordination with CFR’s finance team and support of monthly closings, annual audits, and tax filings
  • Building relationships with institutional peers to help identify the best tools and resources to support the investment team’s work
  • Participating in investment research and monitoring, including but not limited to operational and legal diligence of prospective and current fund managers
  • Supporting the development of quarterly discussion materials and participating in regular meetings and calls with the Investment Committee and Investment Advisory Group
  • Partnering with the Chief Investment Officer and team to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years related work experience, MBA or CFA preferred
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined self-starter with creative problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The individual should be flexible, highly motivated, and able to act and operate independently when needed
  • Willing to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Desire and ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, partnering with a small team
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Solovis a plus
Pay Range
$175,000 to $225,000 per year
Pay commensurate with experience and education
