Job Description


Reporting to the CAO, the Deputy Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leads workforce development, training and DEI programs throughout the airport for employees and stakeholders. and implementation of initiatives that enhance employee engagement and motivation, and the assurance of compliance with PHL, city, state and federal employment laws, regulations, and policies. The Deputy Director supports the executive team in meeting PHL goals and objectives by providing advice and counsel on personnel actions and issues and recommending and implementing employee programs that align with the mission and strategy.

  • Develop a comprehensive multi-year diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy that aligns with the strategic goals and objectives of the Airport and the City of Philadelphia

  • Work in partnership with the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Communications to keep employees informed of PHL’s direction, important events, and decisions.

  • Partner with the Deputy Chief Administrator, Director of Workforce Development and Talent Development to develop best practices that promote and reward inclusion

  • Partner with the staff learning and development team to develop and implement an inclusive career-path strategy for all levels of employees

  • In collaboration with the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, recommend and initiate programs and training that develop employees and improve PHL performance.

  • Coordination and integration of programs and initiatives, building capacity and sharing learning across Airport units.

  • Serve as an internal and external thought leader on D&I and promote organization-wide awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Develop metrics for measuring Airport, and individual employee performance on DEI key performance indicators; oversee metrics collection; evaluate results on an annual or bi-annual basis; and provide intervention recommendations

  • Act as liaison to and between Airport Internal Stakeholders and other City departments to optimize relationships in support of Airport and City interests.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

  • Creates, promotes, and maintains an inclusive workplace that acknowledges, understands, accepts, values, celebrates and respects the differences among individuals, in such areas as, race, age, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, culture, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, or other demographics.

  • Ensures that practices, processes, and programs are impartial, fair and provide equal possible outcomes for every individual.

  • Foster and cultivate DEI-focused external relationships with professional affinity organizations and partners

  • Takes active steps to eliminate acts, behavior, and speech, which reflect discrimination and prejudice.

  • Other duties as required


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field. Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field is a plus.
  • Seven years of demonstrated experience leading equity related work with measurable success in a combination of diversity and inclusion, employee experience, and workplace culture initiatives and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in building strong partnerships both internally and externally, including with culturally and ethnically diverse populations
  • Knowledge of HR law, principles and practices including knowledge of state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, strategic and innovative thinking, and ability to persuade and influence, possessing professional presence and the ability to build enthusiasm and commitment
  • Superior writing and communication skills with unwavering attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills; must be able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
  • Applicants should be passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and enthusiastic about driving results that ultimately impact our employees, passengers, stakeholders, and our corporate brand reputation.
  • An ideal candidate will also have a steady pulse on the latest news, innovations, and events happening in these areas.
  • DEI certification is preferred. DEI certification is required within a year.

SECURITY REQUIREMENT

Must pass and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and AOA (Airfield Operations Area) clearance at the time of appointment and during tenure of employment.
