Job Title: Deputy Director

This role will serve as the Deputy Director for Care In Action and Deputy Civic Engagement Director at NDWA. They would be responsible for the ongoing management of the political, state legislative, and civic engagement programs. They are a key architect of the overall program strategy, and provide internal and external leadership in the organizations.
Responsibilities:
Ongoing management of the political, civic engagement, and legislative programs
Manage and develop various Department-leads (Communications, Data, Operations, Field)
Act as main coordinator of cross-team internal partnership, including but not limited to, relevant meetings, planning, implementation, progress reporting, making sure goals are met or exceeded to ensure the success of program
Liaison with the relevant wider organizational departments, including Technology, Finance, Operations, and Policy to ensure maximum coordination
Oversee strategic planning process with the entire team, including setting goals, budgets, and reporting
Act as final approver in state political and legislative program processes
Lead civic engagement, state, and legislative strategy
Develop targeting, strategy, staffing and budget plan for state endorsements and political programs
Ensure rigorous and fair process for Electoral endorsements
Move specific state care agenda strategy in state legislators
Lead civic engagement program, including voter registration and engagement
Develop state legislative program in consultation with Managing Director, NDWA Deputy Director, and Executive Director
Act as public spokesperson to the media, allies, and funders
Represent Care in Action at partner meetings, coalition convenings, speaking engagements, and funder briefings, as needed
Act as spokesperson for media engagements, as needed
Participate in fundraising, including prospecting, funder interaction, and reporting
Qualifications:
3-4 cycles of electoral campaign experience with increasing responsibility, particularly in data-driven, digital-first environments
Expertise in electoral voter contact, including paid canvass, voter registration, volunteer management and phone banking
Belief in the leadership and political power of women of color, especially Black and Indigenous women
Commitment to support Black organizing and civic engagement, including following the leadership of Black women
Ability to forge strong relationships with relevant partners, groups, and leaders at the national level
Strong understanding of messaging and communication for electoral campaigns; relationships with relevant media are a bonus
Critical thinking and problem solving skills to assess threats and recommend actionable solutions
Ability to understand and meet all legal and ethical requirements of 501c3 and 501c4 environments
Relentless drive, tenacity and a willingness to do whatever it takes to advance our mission and values
Background:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women and Black women.
NDWA was founded in 2007 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country.
