Job description

ConMet is looking to fill a temporary to potential hire position for a Design Engineer in our Metals Engineering group. The core duties of the Design Engineer role will be:

• Create and modify 3D surface models and 2D Drawings per customer and manufacturing input.
• Conduct structural analysis (FEA), interpret results and use to direct design iterations.
• Collaborate with casting process simulation team and incorporate their feedback into designs.
• Generate and control design activity documents and hold design reviews.
• This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
• Design experience using NX, preferably doing complex CAD modeling. Three-dimensional visualization skills
• Experience running Finite Element Analysis packages
• Proficiency with MS Office

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum two years relevant engineering experience
• Commercial vehicle knowledge or commercial vehicle component knowledge
• Experience designing aluminum and ferrous castings
• Manufacturing and finishing processes experience and knowledge, experience in a foundry or machining environment
• Design experience using additional CAD packages – Creo, CATIA – is also preferred.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ANSI/ASME Y14.5
