Summary:

Creates original print and pattern for Company Collections. Conceptualizes and manages the end product that is printed on apparel and/or non apparel using knowledge of our brand, our customer preferences, and current trends.

Duties:

• Partners with VP and Design team to identify emerging fashion trends in print, pattern and color, and uses them to design products that will appeal to the Soft Surroundings customer.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Design and Artwork teams to develop new prints based on historical research of customer and trend
• Use CAD programs to create prints that are production friendly.
• Own all artwork page creation and management.
• Work with other team members to create a prototype design.
• Own all artwork integrity, scale and repeat accuracy
• Own communication with vendors for artwork, strike off, handloom and from design turnover to bulk standard approval.
• Analyze color consistency through color palettes, lab dips and print.
• Work with design team on outfitting seasonal line across all categories.
• Understand competitive trends.
• Attend seasonal Fittings and turnovers and record, execute and follow up on resulting artwork changes.
• Own all artwork approvals and final approvals.
• Mentor and manage Assistant and Associate designers.
• Ensures timely development of product in adherence to corporate calendar

Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design
• Advanced knowledge of garment construction.
• Well versed in fabrics and trims.
• Possess a superior knowledge of fashion design principals.
• Excellent creativity with a good sense of fashion and style.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• At least 5 years of apparel design experience in a fast paced environment.
• Proficient in Photoshop/Illustrator.
• PLM Knowledge.
• In depth knowledge of garment technology.
