DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Department: Development

Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time

Location: Seattle, WA.

Pay Range: $24.90-$26.41

**Flexible/Hybrid schedule with 1-2 days per week remote work available**

We help people overcome employment barriers by teaching them work and life skills they need to succeed in the food-based jobs — and in life.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, FareStart has provided millions of meals to organizations across the Seattle area that serve youth, adults, and families who are low income or experiencing food insecurity.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As the Development Assistant, you will provide administrative activities, executive support, and volunteers support to the Development Department through customer service and coordination of requests and other administrative activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide ongoing calendaring and general administrative support for Chief Development Officer two Directors in Development.
  • Record CEO and CDO donor meeting notes and ensure timely and accurate entry of actions (meetings, phone calls, emails, etc.) into constituent records in Raiser’s Edge. Coordinate with CEO’s executive assistant as needed.
  • Provide back-up support for philanthropy and donor database, and events teams as needed.
  • Provide scheduling and logistical support to for the department.
  • Provide customer service, monitor inboxes and phone lines, and respond and/or forward on to other staff as needed.
  • Provide support and coordinate requests from other departments across the organization.
  • Maintain and store department inventory including community engagement Go-Kits, collateral needs, and office supplies. Spearhead supply and material vendor resourcing and bid process with appropriate.
  • Calendar department meetings, organize other department-wide activities including staff recognition and retreats.
  • Provide general administrative support for department such as maintain activities calendar, update department SharePoint pages, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Provide support to the events team before and during events (e.g., Gala Auction, Golf Tournament, and Guest Chef Night).
  • Provide support to relationship managers working directly with donors including meeting notes, tracking actions in Raiser’s Edge, help prepare donor packets and materials, type strategy notes from meetings, and support for scheduling meetings and tours.
  • Compose and type routine correspondence.
  • Make copies of correspondence or other printed materials.
  • Organize and maintain general administrative file systems.
  • File correspondence and other records as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED and one (1) or more years of administrative or customer service experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of administrative office business practices.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to work with customized databases and technology and to conduct internet research.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and abide by Association of Fundraising Professionals (APF) Code of Ethical Principles and Standards.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/requests under time constraints and meet deadlines in a professional manner.
  • Ability to listen patiently and attentively, ability to express self clearly and effectively, and the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within diverse teams and environments, while treating everyone with respect.
  • Ability to employ best practices associated with the position, while displaying an on-going commitment to learning and self-improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take in new information and perspectives to inform and adapt work.
  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • One (1) or more years of experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database.
