Diet Assistant Position Overview
The Diet Assistant processes meal orders for patients in order to promote a positive patient experience with the meal service. The Diet Assistant takes meal orders from patients, families or nursing staff either over the phone or by visiting the patient at the bedside. The Diet Assistant processes menus for Behavioral Health patients.
UHS Wilson Medical Center is a 280-bed hospital and Level II Trauma Center. In this position, you’ll serve a medical facility that is a regional leader in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and neurosciences, cancer care, maternity and high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, blood disorder treatment, and physical therapy and rehabilitation. Wilson is a bustling hospital and is a 24-hour designated stroke and chest pain center.
Diet Assistant Responsibilities and Expectations
Takes telephone calls and fax orders for all resident diet orders.
Enters meal orders into the room service program as per the diet restrictions.
Assists patients with telephone call-backs or personal visitation as needed, while ensuring adherence to all diet orders.
Enters diet orders and diet changes into the My Dining room service computer program.
Processes orders for nourishments, snacks and tube feedings.
Inventories tube feedings on nursing units as requested.
Performs any additional tasks as required by a supervisor or manager.
Position Qualifications
Minimum:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience. Proficient in the use of computers
Preferred:
Prior Health Care Food Service Experience
