Job description
The BYU Marriott School of Business Digital Media Specialist will take lead in the creation and execution of strategic digital and social media marketing campaigns for BYU Marriott; analyze social media and website metrics and report key findings to stakeholders; write short-form marketing copy and create graphics for digital mediums; manage a small team of student employees; and assist in various public relations and marketing projects.
This job is not a remote position and employee will be required to work on BYU campus in the Tanner Building.
Essential Functions:
- Social Media Management
- Plan and execute thoroughly researched and organized social media campaigns that drive engagement and community building among students, alumni, and other followers of BYU Marriott
- Create and distribute detailed, accessible analytical reports for internal and external stakeholders that inform decision makers and provide critical feedback to Marketing, Communications, and Technology administrators
- Make recommendations, based on in-depth analysis of KPIs for upcoming campaigns and social media marketing practices and tactics
- Assist public relations and marketing manager in expanding audiences on various social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
- Post and respond to inquiries, posts, and direct messages on official BYU Marriott School of Business social media accounts
- General Publications
- Write short-form marketing/public relations copy that can be used on platforms including social media, websites, and other mediums to inform audiences on events and updates from BYU Marriott
- Create unique graphics to be used in social media posts and campaigns for a variety of BYU Marriott events and initiatives
- Team Management
- Work with a small team of student employees to collect data and feedback on effectiveness of social media campaigns from student body representatives
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, or communications OR equivalent social media management experience
Required skills, abilities:
- Experience in developing and executing cross-platform social media campaigns that are designed to build community and increase engagement
- Deep understanding of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram platforms and corresponding audiences
- Experience in graphic design and utilizing visual brand guidelines
- Marketing/social media content writing experience
- Ability to develop an appropriate and specific voice for each social media platform and their audiences
- Experience in measuring and reporting on both the success of campaigns and where there are opportunities for improvement/change, particularly in areas of growth and engagement
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Understanding of how to manage employees and provide constructive feedback and mentorship
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, or communications AND two or more years of social media management and writing experience, especially for students and alumni
Preferred skills, abilities, knowledge:
- Public relations writing experience
- Experience creating graphics/images for social media posts
- Supervisory experience
