Patagonia is a leader in brand narrative and editorial storytelling, with emphasis in photography, film/video, graphics and copywriting. Much of this material combines with mobile and social first creative as the basis for our presence off-platform. We want to further leverage our visual and digital expertise to expand our offering and deliver higher concentrations of mobile and social first stories to our digital communities. The Digital Impact team is a driver of our advocacy and activism efforts and is responsible for inciting action on behalf of our home planet and inspiring more people to help save it.
What You Will Do
- Exhibit excellent judgment, strong visual editing and adept audience understanding to collaborate with a team of internal creatives and external contributors to gather and/or create assets for presentation on Patagonia’s main social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok) and to support Patagonia Actions Works’ off-platform creative needs (paid social, SMS, email).
- Produce innovative digital and mobile media content, including video and live video events, in a multi-platform, multi-media environment.
- Establish and meet production goals tied to strategies jointly established within the digital impact team.
- Guide the community experience of Patagonia across all off-platform channels, establishing standards and constantly updating best practices for the digital studio, social teams and groups working on subchannels.
- Suggest story ideas and find visual opportunities in partnership with film, editorial, and photography teams as well as sport editors. Establish communication channels and production workflows involving all of these stakeholders, and collaborate to frame visual pieces connected to Patagonia’s broader digital storytelling efforts.
- Enforce brand and journalistic standards across all teams managing off-platform communities.
- Determine measures for success by combining editorial and visual judgment with data and feedback about engagement, growth and specific community responses.
- Manage the Digital Impact team’s content creating budget including tracking and invoicing.
- Keep Record of social and digital ideas that are in-production and post-production to report to the writers in a weekly creative meeting.

Experience You Bring
- 4+ years working in a deadline-focused production environment, namely digital media, social media, mobile media, news, video, nonprofit media and/or journalism.
- Proven track record of great, public facing work.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Working in a highly collaborative environment.
- Extreme attention to detail and organizational practices.
- Some experience with nonlinear editing software helpful.
- Experience managing small or medium-sized teams of freelancers that create visual storytelling.
- Understanding and appropriate level of skill across a range of editorial and audience competencies, including reporting, writing, editing, design, analytics and production workflows for photo, video, events and graphics.
- Confidence working across a spectrum of coverage from breaking news to feature films.
- Responsibility for developing and maintaining partnerships with internal producers.
Pay range: $78,670 - $131,044
Hiring range: $82,500 - $102,500
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
