POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, implementing, and managing faith-based community health and wellness programs in the Hammond, East Chicago, and Gary community through collaborative arrangements with local organizations. Supervise team members and operations of the HealthVisions Midwest-Lake County office. The Director of HealthVisions Midwest strives to exemplify the mission, vision, and values of HealthVisions Midwest, Inc and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC) and is responsible for ensuring these are fulfilled in the Lake County office.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Supervises, directs, and provides constructive feedback to staff at the Lake County office. Maintains official records, communications, correspondence, and files. Empower the staff to make progress on goals, objectives and provide good customer services to those served. Oversees customer support processes and organize to enhance customer satisfaction in programming and services. Ensures staff have appropriate training, education, and support to excel in their duties. Meets with staff regularly.

2. Develop and maintain strategic and operational responsibilities for HealthVisions Midwest’s Lake County office staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission and vision in collaboration with Executive Director.

3. Evaluate current emerging social/health issues and develop programs and community coalitions to address them. Develop and enhance collaborative arrangements with key stakeholders, local churches, faith-based partners, health care and community organizations.

4. Build partnerships, establish relationships with funders, political, faith-based and community leaders to fulfill the mission and meet unmet needs in line with the vision. Ensure that the vision, commitment, and mission of HealthVisions and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ for serving the poor in Hammond, Gary and East Chicago are effectively fulfilled and communicated to the staff, partners, volunteers, and community. Work with agencies and staff to develop volunteer ministry.

5. Ensures that the fiscal department and organizational programs adhere to standard accounting guidelines and practices, budget guidelines and board adopted financial policies in collaboration with PHJC finance department. Ensures timely and accurate financial reports are provided to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and PHJC finance department.

6. Oversees fiscal management responsibilities including purchasing, processing of vendor invoices, reviewing, approving, and signing expense reimbursements and check requests to Accounts Payable, bank deposits, balance sheets, etc. for Hammond. Works with PHJC finance department as needed.

7. Recruit, screen, train, and maintain an Advisory Council and secure involvement in strategic directions, programming, fundraising and fiduciary objectives. Provide timely reports and updates to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

8. Schedule, coordinate and conduct meetings, educational seminars, and project groups related to HealthVisions services and health education and wellness. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly Advisory Council meetings, health education, cardiovascular health, volunteer caregiving, etc. with emphasis on low income, African American, and Hispanic minority communities.

9. Conduct ongoing programming and evaluation of services, quality of services and financial management and administration of services. Develop and implement effective systems to track performance of goals, outcomes and regularly evaluate program components to measure success and effectively communicate to funders, staff, Executive Director, and Board of Directors.

10. Collaborate with the Development and staff to identify and secure funding sources to address target issues through grants and other fund development activities. Assist Development in identifying, writing and submitting grants. Ensure timely reporting of grants to meet the mission of HealthVisions Midwest (HVM) and the contract or funding requirements.

11. Attend and host fundraising events, public relation events, new program inaugurations, etc. Serve as spokesman for HealthVisions in Hammond. Acts as liaison for HealthVisions with external stakeholders in collaboration with the Executive Director. Speaks with potential donors, community representatives, health care organizations. Leverage resources through business and community contacts. Works closely with staff, Communications and Development on marketing and fundraising.

12. Prepare and monitor annual and grant budgets and reports with finance, Chief Accounting Officer for PHJC or designee and Executive Director.

13. Develop and monitor annual and long-term goals and strategies. Work with stakeholders, funders, coalitions, community partners and staff to develop, implement and evaluate the goals.

14. Hire, train, lead, coach and retain a mission-oriented team at the Lake County office. Ensure the team is up to date on changes, programs, documentation, funding requirements and HealthVisions Midwest, Inc. goals and updates. Ensure there are effective systems for tracking progress and performance of goals. Complete evaluations of performance and discipline as needed.

15. Develop, implement and health and wellness programs, research projects, major contracts and grants, clinics, volunteer caregiving, and outreach which can be sustained through churches, faith-based, health and community organizations.

16. Participate in on-going training to stay abreast of health and wellness programs, funders program requirements, leadership, strategic planning, etc. including attending trainings and conferences as appropriate.

17. Adhere to servanthood principles. Maintain confidentiality of information related to services, minorities, seniors, persons with disabilities and volunteers.

18. Utilize knowledge and skills to assess outcome and program evaluation. Develop and maintain updated data on services, volunteers, and care receivers. Submit program reports timely.

19. Works collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Director of HealthVisions Midwest of Fort Wayne the Director of HealthVisions Midwest of East St. Louis, and administrative staff to fulfill the mission and vision of HealthVisions Midwest.

20. Provide a warm introduction to the program for those who inquire. Develop and nurture relationships with individuals and groups involved with the ministry.

21. Continually strive to exemplify the mission and vision of HealthVisions Midwest and the philosophy, mission, and values of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. Respects the confidentiality of the organization and the people we serve.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· The above level of knowledge, skills, and abilities are normally acquired through completion of a Master's in Business Administration, or nonprofit management, social work, health education, health care management, public health, community development, business, counseling, or related field.

· 5-7 years in management of department, program, social work, social services, or fiscal and/or nonprofit management.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Experience in cash management, accounts payable, receivables, fixed assets, general ledger, financial statements, balance sheet, statement of activities, and payroll.

· Grant writing, fund development, strategic planning and public speaking experience is required.

· Experience in marketing and social media is helpful.

· Faith-based individual with local community connections. Experience developing and coordinating coalitions is helpful.

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and management sufficient to direct and oversee programs.

· Knowledge of the purpose, organization, and mission of the Gary, Hammond, and East Chicago community health programs sufficient to interact with the community.

· Self-Directed individual exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to develop and enhance Lake County ministry.

· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community leaders, faith-based organizations, clients, health care organizations and the public.

· Strong interpersonal skills, good organizational, analytical, written, and verbal skills.

· Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating policies and procedures.

· Must exercise discretion, sound judgment, and the highest professional ethics with high ethical and moral standards.

· Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, mission, and values of HealthVisions Midwest and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC).

· Database, word processing, PowerPoint, internet, and web site, typing and computer skills are essential. Able to type at least 50 wpm. Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, etc.

· Ability to work confidentially and with sensitive information.

· Valid driver's license, vehicle for driving with car insurance and good driving record.

· Local and long-distance travel is required.

· Ability to work independently and lead a team.

· Ability to manage multiple projects; multi-task with attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to sit, see, lift, carry, push/pull, walk, climb, bend, or stoop and handle. Must be able to perform fine motor skills. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
