Campus Services often provides the first connection with Students, guests, and visitors to campus. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Campus Services, the Bronco Shop Director performs under broad direction. The Bronco Shop is a part of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division. The position has a significant impact on the development of services for communities tied to Boise State University. The Director establishes strategic and operational goals; develops and implements new processes, standards, protocols, and operational plans to achieve strategies. Regularly leads projects and initiatives that directly impact the success of students at Boise State. This position requires regular communication and influence with student success stakeholders across campus, including Academics, the Provost, Financial Aid, and Scholarships. Other campus stakeholders include Athletics, the Alumni Association, and Trademark & Licensing.
The position is accountable for leading all areas of the Bronco Shops; physical store locations, on- line store, the distribution center, and irregular selling events. The Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and directions in the planning, implementing, improving, and evaluating of the department operations as well as promoting operational improvements. Oversees and provides direction for budgets and operational forecasts. Makes complex, independent decisions for situations to ensure department, division, and university objectives are met. Ensures the Bronco Shop remains a self-sustaining and self-funded campus partner. This position assists in managing the University’s Trademark and Licensing program in ensuring that all branded merchandise developed and purchased for resale is in compliance with Boise State Trademark and Licensing guidelines.
Additional responsibilities include assisting the Associate Vice President of Campus Services, and campus leadership in planning and executing a wide range of duties related to service, policy/program development, and implementation, which may include fiscal and administrative programming as well as representing the Associate Vice President to other staff, faculty, students, alumni, and the University’s internal community stakeholders.
60% of time the Bronco Shop Director provides Leadership, Direction and Budget Oversight:
Works collaboratively with University stakeholders both inside and outside of Student
Affairs and Enrollment Management to develop and implement divisional plans and
priorities with a focus on the University’s strategic goals.- Seeks and establishes positive working relationships with all campus constituents, particularly faculty, students, and alumni.
- Engages in Departmental and Divisional problem-solving for organizational issues; makes recommendations for efficiencies and advancement.
- Sets strategic direction and leads the management team of the Bronco Shop enterprise and its operations.
- Works with Marketing and Promotions Coordinator to develop and execute promotions that drive sales
- Leads a unified team for the entire Department, assisting with communication, team
building, professional development, incentives, and compensation review programs. - Establishes an annual operating budget including revenue, expense, and income sufficient to achieve net income goals,
- Oversees the management of cash and inventory utilizing strong internal control practices.
- Negotiates and/or reviews contracts, agreements, and procurements in collaboration with General Counsel and Finance and Administration, University constituents, and external stakeholders.
- Advises and responds to questions from University departments and external stakeholders regarding complex issues or policies affecting assigned programs and services.
- Serves on University committees as requested and collaborates across campus to utilize skill set in other areas that need assistance.
- Provides leadership for service levels, merchandising, organization, maintenance standards, and sanitation of facilities, and in the development of marketing/promotional plans for the Bronco Shops.
- Practices innovative forward thinking and seeking out opportunities for continuous improvement in University retail operations and management.
- Continuously looks for ways to get the best return on the investment of all resources in the Bronco Shop including personnel.
- Continuously evaluates existing technology and facility innovations to lead the process of recommending emerging technologies to best support process optimization and operational efficiency.
- Convenes an on-campus Bronco Shop Advisory Board (at least quarterly) comprised of students, faculty, and staff to solicit feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent plus 8 Years Experience including 5 Years Managerial Experience

- Managing multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Evaluating research to identify potential solutions, resolve problems, or provide information;
- Working with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Utilizing computer technology for communication, data gathering, and reporting activities;
- Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums;
- Specialized knowledge and previous experience in retail planning, operations, and management at an institution of higher education;
- Advanced knowledge of course materials and retail inventory management and point of sale systems including hardware, software and credit card processing.
- Experience working with a learning management system, student information system including student financial accounts and course scheduling, as well as course material adoption platforms.
- Proven portfolio of successful digital marketing campaigns and e-commerce strategies in a distributed store and distributed customer base environment.

Salary and Benefits
