Founded in 1873, Notre Dame Preparatory School is an independent, Catholic school for girls in grades 6-12. A vibrant learning community of 830 students, NDP is located on 60 wooded acres in Towson, Maryland.

Notre Dame Preparatory School seeks a full-time, 12-month Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging to assist in developing and implementing the school’s strategy for improving community life experiences, equity, and inclusion. The director, who reports to the Upper and Middle Level Principals, will be a spiritually grounded leader who sees the work of inclusivity through the Gospel Lens and as a response to Catholic Social Teaching. The director partners with other school leaders, faculty, staff, students, community life-related committees, and external constituencies, to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and excellence throughout the NDP community. The director will research, develop, and share best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion that inspire NDP’s passionate faculty, staff, administrators, students, and parents to fully embrace NDP’s mission, vision, and educational approach.
The focus is to collaboratively develop initiatives and strategies that build and maintain an inclusive campus community respective of the school’s unique identity as a Catholic institution.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership and other departments in the planning, organizing, and managing of NDP inclusivity initiatives to advance the school’s goals to promote equality and foster a community where all are welcomed and can thrive.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a multi-year strategy and action plan for enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
- Assist leadership in developing strategies to address common classroom challenges when teaching about identity, social difference, and inequality.
- Develop student leadership opportunities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and collaborate with faculty moderators to coordinate student affinity group leadership.
- Collaborate/facilitate/consult with STRIVE and the Board of Directors Inclusivity Committee.
- Collaborate with appropriate offices to promote diversity in hiring of faculty and staff as well as student admissions.
- Identify and cultivate a network of resources and contacts who can be called upon for support of inclusivity efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in coordinating and managing diversity and equity programs.
- Experience in an academic institution, particularly work in diversity and equity.
- A proven record of successful planning, developing, and implementing diversity strategies designed to strengthen and improve an equitable and inclusive learning environment and community.
- Understanding of the Catholic faith, particularly Catholic Social Teaching, and a commitment to upholding the mission, vision, and values of Notre Dame Preparatory School.
- Meaningful instructional and leadership experience.
- Sound judgment, high integrity, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Capacity to consider varying viewpoints and synthesize into priorities.
- Strong written, verbal, and public communication skills.
- Collaborative style and ability to establish and maintain effective and supportive relationships with the school community.
