The organization was founded in 2019 by Chelsea Jewish Lifecare (Chelsea and Peabody) and JGS Lifecare (Longmeadow). Other organizations part of the Legacy Lifecare family include Deutsches Altenheim (West Roxbury) and Sisters of Charity - Halifax's Elizabeth Seton Residence and Marillac Residence (Wellesley). Together, these organizations own and operate six skilled nursing facilities, four assisted living residences and two independent living residences across six campuses in Massachusetts. Additional services include home health care, hospice and palliative care, and adult day health care.

We are seeking a Director of Facilities Engineering to join our team!

Position Summary: The Director of Facilities Engineering is responsible for the development and maintenance of an organization-wide preventive maintenance program, providing general support and development to the maintenance teams and managing capital projects. This position will support all Legacy Lifecare affiliates.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preventive Maintenance
    • Co-creating with the Maintenance Directors of each facility PM plans including schedules, instructions, etc;
    • Providing training to Maintenance Directors and maintenance teams on how to execute PM plans;
    • Auditing adherence to PM plans;
  • General support to the Maintenance Directors in each facility
    • Being available for calls and in-person consultation with Directors on general maintenance issues, matters of regulatory compliance (including but not limited to life safety standards and HUD regulations), and more;
    • Develop and maintain a central database of as-builts and equipment of each facility;
    • Establish and maintain vendor base with input from maintenance directors;
    • Training directors and their staff on company policy and maintenance issues;
    • Consulting on staffing patterns, job responsibilities, and workflows;
  • Capital Projects
    • Coordinating capital needs assessments;
    • Working with Executive Directors and other leaders at each facility to develop annual capital budgets;
    • Assist in the identification and implementation of energy and water consumption reductions;
    • For small projects, providing support to Directors in overseeing the capital improvements;
    • For medium-sized projects (e.g. costs of 250K-2 million), serving as project manager;
    • For larger projects, engaging owner's representative and overseeing his/her performance;
    • Coordinating with architects, interior designers, engineers and other parties as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five years of progressive work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of facility maintenance including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building enclosures, and grounds
  • Familiarity with energy efficient designs and standards
  • Familiarity with Department of Public Health regulations, standards, and inspections
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively across multiple disciplines
