The Center for Human Services is looking for a Director of Finance to join our team and serve as a crucial member of the Leadership Management Team. This position will manage all financial functions and provide leadership to the Accounting Department, as well as support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in overseeing the financial activities of the organization based on strategic and operational plans.

  • Manage all daily financial activities and functions of the Accounting Unit for the organization
  • Maintain internal controls in all areas of the Accounting Department
  • Ensure all financial operations follow federal, state and agency regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Provide guidance in financial reporting objectives and standards to ensure accurate, compliant, and useful financial reporting is produced
  • Forecast and manage a cash flow that meets the needs of the organization
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of cost accounting principles, internal controls, policies, procedures, timely and accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, bookkeeping, auditing, tax preparation and budgeting processes
  • Maintain a current knowledge of all regulatory requirements pertaining to grants, billings, documentation, accounting requirements and reporting
  • Review and analyze the monthly financials for trends, accuracy, and budget comparisons. Reports concerns or problems to the CFO and recommend solutions
  • Review and approve the monthly depreciation schedule and supporting documentation
  • Prepare financial analysis reports and regulatory reports as needed and/or requested
  • Work directly with independent outside audit firm to complete annual audits
  • Ensure all filings are completed accurately and timely
  • Responsible for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and resolving complex problems in a timely manner
  • Maintain and organize digital and physical financial records
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy in financial records, expenses, and investments
  • Meet regularly with the CFO to ensure coordination and continuity of the Accounting Department goals and outcomes, discusses and resolves overall problems, personnel issues, and other business issues
  • Determine when independent action is appropriate and when consultation with the CFO is needed
  • Complete and submit a Personnel Activity Report (PAR) monthly
  • Review and approve timecards of direct reports
  • Complete performance appraisals annually and monitors personnel issues for direct reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Complete training as stated by CHS policy HRD-P-022 – Training.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive Safety Culture is expected and necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work. Safe work practices and policies for this position shall be reviewed and strictly followed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college
  • CPA certification or registered to take the CPA Exam in the following three months.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience including supervisory experience
  • Excellent Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must provide valid driver’s license and proof of personal valid vehicle insurance

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Working with Non-Profit finances
  • Experience with NetSuite and or other accounting software

PAY RANGE: $102,278.00 - $146,785.60/yr.
