Summary:
The Director of Finance is a member of the senior management team for OVG Facilities at Jackson Convention Complex. We are looking for a proactive, driven, and collaborative professional who will be responsible for helping establish the financial infrastructure and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
The Director of Finance must be detail-oriented and have a passion for rolling up his/her sleeves. Responsibilities of this Position:
- Ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Oversee payroll and HR functions in the venue.
- Coordinating and preparing the budget and financial forecasts
- Development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and checklists.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with projecting event deals, actual event P&L's, analysis, and "settlement" of shows on the night of events.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Oversee the revenue and expense recognition process so that it follows contract terms.
- Lead with the annual GAAP audit and timely financials, as well as various financial reports.
- Lead other special projects as requested by leadership.
- Monitors compliance with all provisions of the management contract.
- Maintains contact with Risk Management Department and Insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverage.

Education and/or Experience:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university
- CPA or MBA a plus 5 to 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head.
- Venue/Live Entertainment Industry experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Willing to work nights and weekends as required.
- Be a business partner with other departments ensuring financial success of the venue.
- Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting
- Superior Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly, open to change and enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and ambiguous environment; handle multiple tasks with the ability to re-prioritize and shift priorities quickly.
- Written/Oral communications - ability to speak and write clearly and concisely, get messages across that have the desired effect.
- Experience with Paylocity payroll, and Net Suite accounting system preferred.

Intellectual/Social demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
Physical demands:
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.
Work environment:
The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
